The weekend, briefly

It was a seriously hot weekend. The kind where you feel like you're walking through molasses, and everything seems to slow down. The kind where you look back and try to figure out what exactly you managed to get done, besides sweating and then taking multiple showers.

I ate an entire watermelon (and a honeydew) from our CSA box.

I organized my lace.

lace, organized

I worked, quite a bit.

We ate quiche (recipe here) and pears.

quiche!

I walked at dusk, which is one of my favorite things to do. It must be the voyeur in me, but I love seeing the lights switch on inside the houses, and seeing people's shadows move behind the windows. It's so cozy.

I hope none of you SoCal readers melted! I'm crossing my fingers for fall weather soon.

  1. I absolutely agree. I love driving by lit-up windows in the early night and seeing TVs flicking on or curtains being pulled. Very cozy!

  9. Know what doesn't happen at our house? Organizing lace. Because that would involve multiple kinds of lace. And then it would involve organization. So kudos to you!

  10. One of my favorite sights in the whole world is the way my home looks at that time of day- or even after it's dark. We have a big palladian style window in the living room and the room is painted in a sandy gold finish that absorbs the light (thank you matte finish paint) and just glows once we turn on the lamps. It just looks so cozy and homey- and it's MY home. I'm with you on the cozy time of day thing.

Looks like you got a lot done. I'm knee deep in another pettiskirt project. Always.

  11. I guess I'm a voyeur too! ;) Love walking at that time of day. Sooo happy it cooled off today, did a photo session in downtown Fullerton yesterday afternoon and we were busting out the oil blotters left and right!

  14. When I lived in England I used to love peering into basement flats when I walked by. You'd get the feel of the whole room, plus you'd sometimes see people's feet moving around or sitting in front of the sofa watching tv. I think voyeurism is in everyone. :)
